The extension's popup shows at most one suggestion at a time, picked from how your last week went, and a row of badges for the time you've won back. Both stay in your browser, worked out from the same daily numbers as your dashboard.
What does it suggest?
Each suggestion is one small change with a button that makes it. They come from the last seven days:
- Keep a part open. You stopped at the same part of a site, like Instagram notifications, three or more times this week. It offers to keep that part open.
- Ask first on an untouched site. An Untouched site took 15 minutes a day or more. It offers Ask first.
- No feeds on a site. You used all of a site's daily limit on four or more days. It offers No feeds, with messages and links still working.
- A lower budget. You stayed well under your daily budget every day for a week. It offers a budget that matches.
- No feeds before noon. You went over budget on several days, and most of your reaching for feeds happened in the morning. It offers no feeds before noon.
Press Not now and that suggestion stays quiet for two weeks. A suggestion that loosens something, like keeping a part open, waits 24 hours like any other looser change.
Which badges are there?
| Badge | How you earn it |
|---|---|
| First feed stopped | Turn back at a shut feed |
| 3 days on budget | Stay under your daily budget 3 days running |
| An hour back | Get 60 minutes back |
| A day without feeds | Spend a whole day at 0 min on social |
| A week on budget | Stay under your daily budget 7 days running |
| Down on last week | Spend a fifth less time than the week before |
| Half the scrolling | Halve your first week's daily average |
| Ten hours back | Get 10 hours back |
| A month on budget | Stay under your daily budget 30 days running |
Each badge is earned once and kept. The popup celebrates a new one the first time it shows it, and names the next one to aim for. Time back is an estimate: each feed you turn back from counts as about 7 minutes, the length of a typical unplanned scroll, and leaving at the scroll check counts as 3.
When you turn back at a shut feed or a pause, the screen shows how many minutes you just won back, like "+7 min back", for a second before it closes.
