I've had it works on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Messenger, X (Twitter), Reddit and LinkedIn in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc. On each site it shuts only the feed pages, the ones that scroll forever, and treats messages and specific pages (a post, a video, a profile, a search) differently. Every other site is left alone, and the extension can't see it.
How pages are sorted
Every address on these sites is one of three things:
- Feed: an endless scroll, like a home page, Reels, Shorts or a subreddit listing. This is what No feeds shuts.
- Messages: your DMs. With messages always open on, they open and are not counted.
- Everything else: a specific post, video, profile, thread or search. These open with a quick pass when a link brought you, or after the intent gate when you typed the address.
The tables below list the address paths for each site. www. and m. versions of each address count the same.
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/), Explore (/explore), Reels (/reels) | Direct (/direct) | A single post (/p/...), a single reel sent to you (/reel/...), profiles, search |
A single reel at /reel/... is a specific page, so one sent to you opens. The Reels tab at /reels is the feed. See block Instagram Reels and Instagram for messages only.
YouTube
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/), Shorts (/shorts), Trending, Explore and Subscriptions (/feed/...), Gaming (/gaming) | None | A single video (/watch), channels, search results, playlists |
Anything under /shorts counts as feed, including a single Short. On every YouTube page the extension also hides the home grid, Shorts shelves, the related videos column, end screen suggestions, the Shorts entry in the side menu and the autoplay suggestion. More in hide YouTube Shorts and hide YouTube recommendations.
TikTok
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/), For You (/foryou), Following (/following), Explore (/explore), Live (/live) | Messages (/messages) | A single video, profiles, search |
See block the TikTok For You page.
Facebook and Messenger
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/ and /home.php), Watch (/watch), Reels (/reel), Stories (/stories), Gaming (/gaming) | Messages (/messages, /t/...) and all of messenger.com | Single posts, profiles, Pages, groups, Marketplace, events |
On Facebook, anything starting with /reel counts as feed, including a single reel. See block Facebook Reels and Watch and Messenger without the Facebook feed.
X / Twitter
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/ and /home), Explore (/explore), Trending and Topics (/i/trending, /i/topics) | Messages (/messages, /i/chat) | A single post, profiles, search, lists |
Both x.com and twitter.com are covered. X changes its pages often, so if a feed slips through, tell me the address. See hide the X For You feed.
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
Home (/), Best, Hot, New, Top and Rising, r/popular, r/all, and any subreddit's front page (/r/name) | Messages (/message) and chat (/chat) | A single thread (/r/name/comments/...), user pages, search |
A subreddit listing scrolls forever, so it counts as feed. A single thread does not, which is why a Reddit link from a search result still opens. See block the Reddit feed.
| Feed | Messages | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
The feed (/feed) | Messaging (/messaging) | Profiles, jobs, company pages, single posts, search |
LinkedIn is Untouched by default. Switch it to No feeds or Ask first if the feed pulls you in. See hide the LinkedIn feed.
Default mode for each site
| Site | Default mode | Daily limit if you switch to it |
|---|---|---|
| No feeds | 15 min | |
| No feeds | 15 min | |
| TikTok | No feeds | 10 min |
| YouTube | Ask first, longer for lessons | 30 min |
| X / Twitter | Daily limit | 15 min |
| Daily limit | 20 min | |
| Untouched | 15 min |
You choose your own modes during setup, and you can change them any time. See site modes.
Questions
Which sites does I've had it block?
It shuts the feeds on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Messenger, X, Reddit and LinkedIn. It doesn't run on any other site.
Can I add another site?
Not today. The list is fixed so the extension never needs access to other sites. If there's a site you want covered, write to me.
Does it work in the Instagram or TikTok phone apps?
No. It's a browser extension for computers. The phone app shows your numbers and lets you change your plan, but doesn't block inside other apps yet.
Why is a single YouTube Short treated as a feed?
Shorts play one after another as you swipe, so even one Short is the start of a feed. A regular video at /watch is treated as a specific page.
