LinkedIn has no setting to turn the feed off, but on a computer you can hide it with a browser extension and keep the useful parts. With I've had it in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc and LinkedIn set to No feeds, linkedin.com/feed is shut, while messages, jobs, profiles, notifications and search keep working. LinkedIn starts on Untouched, so you switch it on yourself.
What can LinkedIn do on its own?
At the time of writing, LinkedIn's tools shape the feed rather than remove it:
- Unfollow without disconnecting. You can unfollow a connection and stay connected. Their posts leave your feed, and you can still message them.
- Hide a post or "I don't want to see this". The menu on a post lets you hide it or see fewer like it.
- Go straight to messages. Bookmark
linkedin.com/messaging/and open that instead of the home page, so you don't pass through the feed to reach your inbox.
These help. The feed is still the first thing LinkedIn shows when you open it, and it is easy to start reading on the way to something else.
How do I hide the LinkedIn feed with I've had it?
- Add the extension from the install page.
- In setup, or later in the popup or on your dashboard, change LinkedIn from Untouched to No feeds.
- Keep Messages always open ticked for LinkedIn (it is by default).
- Refresh any LinkedIn tab, then open linkedin.com. When LinkedIn lands on the feed, you see a quiet full-screen page saying the feed is shut.
- Open
linkedin.com/messaging/. Your messages work as usual.
Which LinkedIn pages are shut, and what still works?
LinkedIn is the simplest site the extension watches: one feed.
| LinkedIn page | Address | With No feeds |
|---|---|---|
| Home feed | linkedin.com/feed | Shut |
| Messaging | linkedin.com/messaging | Open as usual, not counted |
| A profile, job or post from a link elsewhere | any other page | Opens for 30 seconds |
| Jobs, profiles, notifications, search you open yourself | any other page | A short pause, then up to two minutes |
A link from an email or a chat, like a recruiter's job post, gets a quick pass: 30 seconds, up to four times an hour. When you go somewhere on purpose, the intent gate asks what you came to do, with chips like Work and Message someone, and gives you a short window.
Is No feeds too strict for LinkedIn?
It can be if you use LinkedIn for work all day, because profiles and jobs you open yourself get two minutes at a time. Two softer modes suit that better:
- Ask first: the feed opens after a 15-second breath and a reason, for two or five minutes. Other pages open after a short pause for 2, 5 or 15 minutes.
- Daily limit: LinkedIn works as usual for a set number of minutes a day (15 by default, 5 to 90), then the feed shuts until midnight. Messages don't count while Messages always open is on.
If you are job hunting or recruiting, Daily limit with a generous allowance is usually the right fit. See site modes and, for work hours in general, social media at work.
Does this hide the LinkedIn feed on my phone?
No. The extension works in desktop browsers only. The I've had it phone app shows your numbers and lets you change your plan, but it doesn't block inside the LinkedIn app. On a phone, Screen Time (iPhone) or Digital Wellbeing (Android) can limit the LinkedIn app as a whole, and LinkedIn's notification settings let you keep messages and turn off the rest.
Questions
Can you turn off the LinkedIn feed?
LinkedIn has no setting for it. On a computer, set LinkedIn to No feeds in I've had it and linkedin.com/feed is shut while messages, jobs and profiles keep working.
Can I still read LinkedIn messages?
Yes. With Messages always open ticked, the default, linkedin.com/messaging works as usual and isn't counted toward any limit.
Why isn't LinkedIn blocked after I installed it?
LinkedIn starts on Untouched. Change it to No feeds, Ask first or Daily limit in the popup or on your dashboard, then refresh the tab.
Can I still apply for jobs on LinkedIn?
Yes. Job pages aren't feeds. With No feeds, a job opened from a link gets 30 seconds, and one you open yourself gets a short pause and two minutes; Daily limit or Ask first gives you longer.
Does LinkedIn see that I'm hiding the feed?
The extension runs in your browser and doesn't send anything to LinkedIn. See privacy for what it stores.
