A free filter list for social feeds

Add one list to uBlock Origin or AdGuard and Reels, Shorts, Explore and For You stop loading. Posts, videos, profiles and messages still open. It works on a computer and in your phone’s browser. Free, and public domain.

Social feeds

The feed pages only. Posts, videos, profiles, search and messages keep working. Start here.

Social feeds, strict

Adds each site's home feed. Most sites land there after you sign in, so you'll go straight to a profile, a search or your inbox instead.

Subscribe https://ivehadit.app/filters/feeds-strict.txt View the list

Subscribe works in uBlock Origin, AdGuard and Adblock Plus when one of them is installed in this browser. If nothing happens, copy the address and add it by hand, as below. Updated 2026-10-26. Lists refresh every day.

What it blocks

SiteBlockedStrict also blocksLeft alone
Instagram/reels/exploreand hides the Reels button/Posts, profiles, a single reel and DMs (/direct) are untouched.
Facebook/reel/reels/watch//home.php/stories/gamingA video or reel link opens; Messenger and /messages are untouched.
YouTube/shorts/feed/trending/feed/explore/gamingand hides the recommendations and Shorts buttons//feed/subscriptionsVideos, channels, search and playlists are untouched.
TikTok/foryou/explore/live//followingA video link, a profile and messages are untouched.
X / Twitter/explore//home/i/trending/i/topicsPosts, profiles, search and messages are untouched.
Reddit/r/popular/r/all//best/hot/new/top/risingSubreddits you choose, threads and messages are untouched.
LinkedIn/feedA shared post (/feed/update/...), profiles, jobs and messaging are untouched.

A blocked page shows your blocker’s own warning page, which has a way through if you really need that one page. I keep the list narrow on purpose: a list that breaks the parts of a site you need gets switched off, and then it helps nobody.

On a phone

The list works in a phone’s web browser. It can’t reach inside the Instagram, TikTok or YouTube apps, because those don’t load web pages.

  • iPhone and iPad: install AdGuard from the App Store and turn it on under Settings, Safari, Extensions. In AdGuard, add a custom filter and paste https://ivehadit.app/filters/feeds.txt. It then works in Safari.
  • Android: install Firefox, then uBlock Origin from Firefox’s add-ons. In uBlock Origin’s dashboard, open Filter lists, tick Import at the bottom, paste the address and press Apply changes. AdGuard for Android takes the same address as a custom filter.
  • On a computer: press Subscribe above, or paste the address under Filter lists, Import in uBlock Origin, or under Filters, Custom in AdGuard.

Then use Instagram, YouTube and the rest in the browser, and leave the apps off your home screen. More detail in the filter list guide.

What a filter list can’t do

A filter list is a blunt tool. It’s the right one for some people. It helps to know where it stops:

  • It only acts when a page loads. If you tap Reels inside Instagram, the site swaps the page without loading a new one, so the list can’t see it. I hide the main buttons to make that harder, not impossible.
  • A link someone sends you to a short or a reel is blocked like the feed. There’s no 30-second pass for things you were sent.
  • There’s no pause and no question about why you’re there, and no daily limit. A page is either blocked or not.
  • It has no Messages always open. Inboxes aren’t blocked, but with the strict list the home feed you land on after signing in is, even when you only came to reply to someone.
  • It doesn’t count anything, so there are no minutes back and no weekly picture.

Those are the things the I’ve had it extension does, in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc. If the list is enough for you, keep it. If you want the softer version, the extension is here, and this is how it decides.

The open dataset

The same rules as data: for each site, its hosts, which paths are feeds and which are messages (as regular expressions, with example addresses), and the filters made from them. It’s generated from the rules the extension uses, so it changes when they do. Use it in your own blocker, research or answers, no permission needed.
