To unlock a shut feed, press the small link under the button on the wall, "I really need it: unlock for 10 minutes". Type the sentence shown, wait 60 seconds, and the site opens for 10 minutes. If you hit the same wall a third time in a day, you are also offered a one-off $1.99 to open that site for an hour with no pauses at all.

When is a feed shut?

A feed shows the wall when:

  • The site is set to No feeds.
  • Your daily budget is spent, on an Ask first site.
  • A Daily limit site has used its minutes for today.
  • No feeds before noon is on and it is still morning.

The wall has one main button, Take me back, which returns you to the page you came from or closes the tab. Links people send you and messages keep working whatever the wall says, see quick pass and messages always open.

How do I unlock a feed for 10 minutes?

  1. On the wall, press I really need it: unlock for 10 minutes.
  2. Type the sentence: "I am choosing to spend this time on purpose". Pasting is turned off, and capitals do not matter.
  3. Press Start the 60-second wait.
  4. Wait while the countdown runs. You can press Leave instead at any point.
  5. The site opens for 10 minutes. The pill at the bottom of the page says Deliberate unlock and shows the time left.

You can end it early with the × on the pill, or with End now in the extension's popup. When the 10 minutes are up, the wall comes back. The unlock is free, and you can use it as often as you like. Its time counts toward your daily budget.

Why is unlocking slow on purpose?

An urge to open a feed is often gone a minute later. Typing a sentence and waiting 60 seconds gives it that minute, and is short enough that a real need is not blocked. If you still want in after that, it is a decision, not a reflex. The countdown screen keeps a Leave instead button in view the whole time.

What is the paid hour?

If you keep coming back to the same wall, the third time in a day it shows an extra button: Skip the wait: open the site for an hour, $1.99.

  1. Press it. A page on ivehadit.app opens for that site.
  2. Pay $1.99 once with Stripe. It is not a subscription.
  3. The hour starts when you pay. Go back to the tab and it lets you in.

For that hour the site has no pauses, no countdown and no sentence to type. The pill shows the time left and cannot be ended early, because the hour belongs to your account. Other computers linked to your account pick it up on their next sync. Time during the paid hour still counts toward your daily budget.

The price is there to keep it a deliberate choice. It is separate from the $2.99 a week plan, see pricing and the trial.

If you unlock the same site most days, the site's mode is probably too strict for how you use it. Switching it to Ask first or a Daily limit in site modes is often better than fighting the wall.

Questions

How do I get past the I've had it wall?

Press the small link under the main button, type the sentence shown, and wait 60 seconds. The feed opens for 10 minutes.

Can I turn off I've had it for a while?

You can unlock one site for 10 minutes from its wall, buy an hour for $1.99 after the third wall in a day, or set the site to Untouched in the extension's popup.

No. It is a single payment through Stripe that opens one site for 60 minutes, starting when you pay.

Does the paid hour work on all my devices?
