The I've had it phone app signs in to the same account as the website and the browser extension. It shows your numbers from every device, lets you change your plan, and lists your devices. It does not block anything inside the Instagram, TikTok or other apps on your phone yet. The blocking happens in the browser on your computer.
What the phone app does today
| Tab | What you see |
|---|---|
| Today | Minutes back today and this week, feeds stopped, today's time on social against your limit, the last 7 days, where the minutes went, and the latest reasons you typed |
| Plan | What you want more of, your daily budget, no feeds before noon, and a mode for each site. Press Save plan. |
| Devices | Every browser and phone on your account, when each was last seen, and a Log out button |
The numbers are the same ones on your dashboard, added up across every device. Pull down on the Today tab to refresh.
How to sign in
- Open the app.
- Log in with the same email and password you use on ivehadit.app. If you're new, press Create an account.
- The phone registers itself as a device on your account and appears under Devices, on the phone and on the dashboard.
Your session is kept in the phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
If the Today tab says "Nothing yet", install the extension on your computer and sign in there with the same account. See install and sync across devices.
Changing your plan from the phone
On the Plan tab, change what you need and press Save plan. The plan is saved to your account, and each browser picks it up on its next sync, within about 15 minutes. If you want it on a computer right away, press Sync now in the extension's popup there.
The modes are the same four as everywhere else: No feeds, Ask first, Daily limit and Untouched. See site modes.
What it doesn't do yet
The phone app doesn't block feeds inside the Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or other apps. A browser extension can't see into those apps, and blocking inside them needs permissions from Apple and Google. It's the next thing I'm building, and I'm not putting a date on it.
It also doesn't count the time you spend in those apps, so the numbers you see come from your computers.
Until then, a few things help on a phone:
- Use your phone's own screen time settings for app limits. The screen time limits that stick guide covers what tends to work.
- Move feed apps off your home screen, and use the website versions on a computer, where I've had it can shut the feed.
- Look at the reflex hours card on your web dashboard to see which hours you reach for a feed most, and plan those hours away from your phone.
Questions
Does the I've had it app block Instagram or TikTok on my phone?
Not yet. Today it shows your numbers and lets you change your plan. Blocking inside other apps needs Apple's and Android's permissions and is what I'm working on next.
Is the phone app the same account as the browser extension?
Yes. One account covers the website, every browser extension and the phone app, with one plan and one set of numbers.
Do I need the phone app to use I've had it?
No. Everything works with the extension and the website alone. The app is a convenient way to check your numbers and change your plan away from your computer.
Does the phone app track what I do on my phone?
No. It doesn't read other apps or count time on your phone. It shows the totals your browsers have synced.
