To get started, open ivehadit.app/start, answer six short steps (what you want more of, your daily limit, your sites, an account, the free trial, the install), and add the extension from the Chrome Web Store. It takes about five minutes, and the feeds on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X, Reddit and LinkedIn are handled from the moment the extension connects.
What do I need before I start?
- A computer with Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc. Safari and Firefox are not available yet.
- An email address for your account, or a Google account if sign-in with Google is shown.
- A card for the trial. Nothing is charged for the first 10 days. See pricing and the trial.
The six setup steps
- Why. Pick what you want more of ("My evenings", "Sleep before midnight", or your own line). I show this line on your dashboard so the point of it stays in front of you. Your first name is optional.
- Limit. Say roughly how long you spend on feeds now, and how much you would be happy with. The second number is your daily budget, 20 minutes by default. You can also switch on no feeds before noon here.
- Sites. Each site gets a mode: No feeds, Ask first, Daily limit or Untouched. I suggest a starting point, explained in site modes. You can change any of it later.
- Account. Make an account so your plan and numbers are kept and can sync across devices.
- Trial. Start your 10 free days through Stripe. If you already have a trial or a plan, this step is skipped.
- Install. Press Add to Chrome in the store, then Add extension, and come back to the tab. The page notices the extension on its own, saves your plan into it and links it to your account.
The full install walkthrough, including Edge and installing by hand, is in install.
The starting plan I suggest
| Site | Suggested mode | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| No feeds | Home, Reels and Explore shut. Posts people send you and your messages open. | |
| Facebook and Messenger | No feeds | Home, Watch, Reels and Stories shut. Messages open. |
| TikTok | No feeds | For You, Following, Explore and Live shut. Messages open. |
| YouTube | Ask first | A short breath and a reason before the home page or Shorts. Lessons get a longer window. |
| X / Twitter | Daily limit, 15 min | Works as usual for 15 minutes a day, then the feeds shut until midnight. |
| Daily limit, 20 min | Works as usual for 20 minutes a day, then the feeds shut until midnight. | |
| Untouched | Not watched, not counted. |
"Messages always open" is on for every site that has messages, so DMs keep working whatever the mode. More on that in messages always open.
Try it once it's connected
When the setup page says "Connected", open instagram.com/reels or youtube.com/shorts in a new tab. You should see a calm full-screen page instead of the feed. Then try a link someone sent you to a single post: it opens for 30 seconds, which is the quick pass. If you want to understand every screen you might see, read how it decides.
Pin the popup
Click the puzzle piece next to the address bar and pin I've had it. The popup shows today's minutes back, how much of your daily budget is used, how many feeds were stopped, any open windows with an End now button, and a mode switch for each site.
Where to change things later
- The popup changes a site's mode on that computer, and the change syncs to your account.
- The dashboard changes everything: modes, daily limits, your daily budget, quick pass length, the scroll check and no feeds before noon. Changes reach every device.
- The phone app changes the same plan from your phone.
Questions
How long does it take to set up I've had it?
About five minutes. Most of that is choosing your sites; the install itself is one click in the Chrome Web Store and needs no restart.
Do I have to make an account?
The setup asks for one, because the trial, your plan and your dashboard live on it. Without a trial or a plan, the extension shows "Start your 10 free days" on feeds instead of shutting them.
Can I skip the install step and do it later?
Yes. Press Skip for now and your plan stays saved to your account. When you install the extension later and open your dashboard while signed in, it picks the plan up.
What happens if I pick the wrong mode for a site?
Nothing you can't undo. Change it in the popup or on the dashboard, then refresh the site's tab.
