# Why looser settings wait 24 hours

> In I've had it, a stricter setting starts at once and a looser one waits 24 hours, so one weak moment can't undo your plan. What counts as looser, and how to cancel.

In I've had it, a change that makes your settings stricter starts straight away, and a change that makes them looser waits 24 hours before it applies. Until then, the setting you had keeps working. It is the same wherever you make the change: the extension's popup, your [dashboard](https://ivehadit.app/docs/dashboard-and-stats), or another device through [sync](https://ivehadit.app/docs/sync-across-devices).

The reason is simple. The moment you most want to switch a feed back on is usually the moment the block is doing its job. A one-click switch makes the block one click deep. A day's wait means you decide when you are calm, not in the middle of a scroll.

## What counts as looser?

Any change that would let more feed through:

- A site moved to a gentler mode, like **No feeds** to **Ask first**, or anything to **Untouched**. See [site modes](https://ivehadit.app/docs/site-modes).
- A bigger **Daily limit** on a site, or a bigger **daily budget** overall. See [daily budget and limits](https://ivehadit.app/docs/daily-budget-and-limits).
- Opening a part of a site for good, like Messages or Notifications. See [keep parts of a site open](https://ivehadit.app/docs/keep-parts-open).
- A longer [quick pass](https://ivehadit.app/docs/quick-pass), or turning on [links people send stay open](https://ivehadit.app/docs/links-people-send).
- Turning off [no feeds before noon](https://ivehadit.app/docs/no-feeds-before-noon), or cutting or moving your [feed-free hours](https://ivehadit.app/docs/feed-free-hours). The same hours on more days is stricter, so it starts at once.

Everything else, like a smaller budget, No feeds on a new site, or more feed-free hours, is stricter and applies at once.

## What do I see while a change waits?

The popup says what still applies and when it lifts, for example "Still No feeds until tomorrow 4:12 PM", with a **Keep it** button. Under the site list it shows the rule, and how many times you loosened something this week. Your dashboard's protection check lists the settings still held.

## Can I cancel a looser change?

Yes. Press **Keep it** in the popup, or choose the earlier setting again anywhere. The wait ends and nothing changes.

## Can I undo a stricter change I made by mistake?

Yes, for 10 minutes. Within 10 minutes of making a site stricter, you can put it back to exactly how it was, with no wait. After that, or if you try to go looser than it was before, the 24-hour wait applies. That way, tightening and then loosening can't be used to skip the wait.

## When is there no wait?

- **In the first hour after you install**, while you pick your first settings.
- **Without an active trial or plan**, since nothing is being shut then. See [pricing and trial](https://ivehadit.app/docs/pricing-and-trial).

## What if I need a feed today?

The wait is for changing your plan, not for getting through a wall once. On a shut feed, the small link under the button lets you [unlock it for 10 minutes](https://ivehadit.app/docs/unlock-a-feed) after typing one sentence and waiting 60 seconds. Links people send you keep opening as usual.

## Questions

### Why can't I turn off a blocked site straight away?

Making a site looser waits 24 hours, so a weak moment can't undo the plan. The earlier setting keeps working until then. You can [unlock a feed for 10 minutes](https://ivehadit.app/docs/unlock-a-feed) if you need it now.

### Does making it stricter wait too?

No. Stricter changes, like No feeds on a site or a smaller budget, start at once.

### How do I cancel a change that is waiting?

Press Keep it in the extension's popup, or choose the earlier setting again. The wait ends and nothing changes.

### Does the wait apply to changes from my phone or the dashboard?

Yes. A looser change waits 24 hours wherever it was made, including the dashboard, the phone app and another browser through sync.
